I looked through the crystal-clear water, it laid bare all that hid below. I stood there for a moment, and wondered, is love pure like this? But then, sometimes, I look around At the crowd Of men and women Their eyes searching for something Checking each other out, like animals do Looking for something Something, they still don’t have. And someone whispers inside, where is that pure love people talk about? I want to believe - But who can show me inside out? This is a treacherous world Very cold and sad Real love is what you dreamt, An exchange in waiting, is what you found. This is a bazaar People have come here with the things they have You have the books, She has the looks To impress To seduce Looking forward to that silent bargain One offers, another takes Get going, and don’t look back Please, don’t bother to pretend Love howls Love cries Do I exist, it doubts Love was created Just as we created God The human imagination By our own fascination Someone to love Oh, to find meaning in existence A mind’s creation Born of hollow desperation From a distance I look, and I smile. I am the silent witness To the things happening in this bazaar I look, and I smile All the hypocrisy in disguise.
